"This song is talking to the person you haven't even met yet. Maybe they're rolling around in the hay with someone else, but they're not as good as you're gonna be. You just have to wait your turn. Saturday, October 2, 2010 | 9:24 PM | 0Comment I have another interesting night to share with you, Internet. (WARNING: ANOTHER NOVELLA-LENGTH ENTRY AHEAD.)I had the feeling tonight that when I started getting ready for my old school's Homecoming football game (don't ask why they would have the football game an entire week after the dance, I have no idea.) that I would see Ricky Bobby again. I don't know how, but maybe I've developed some sort of Ricky Bobby radar. And sure enough, when I was riding in the car with my dad on the way to the game, I got an all uppercase text message from Best Friend Rose: "HEADS UP RICKY BOBBY'S HERE". To which I replied, "OH GOD". An antsy, nervous feeling roiled in my stomach from that moment up until I got out of the car and started making my way to the football field. Now, I don't know if I've mentioned on here before that being in online school has done a serious number on my vision, but it has. Catching up all of first semester sophomore year and being in front of the computer 8+ hours a day wrecked my vision. It went from 20/15 to 20/60, and my eye doctor said that I developed partial astigmatism, too. It's funny, I thought that maybe when adults said that being on the computer for more than a few hours was unhealthy, I thought they were spewing bull. Well guess what, kids? THEY'RE RIGHT. DON'T DO IT. So anyway, since my vision's so awful now, I have to wear glasses. I plan on getting contacts at some point, because I don't wear my glasses when I should, which isn't good, but it's a bad habit of mine. I mostly just wear them at home. So, when I don't wear them out in public, especially at night, you can imagine how badly I can't see then. So, when I walk to the hill and the stands by the football field, looking for my friends, I heard a far off, "Sarah!" And so I stand there, looking around me, probably looking pretty stupid, and I keep hearing, "Sarah! No, not over there. No, no. Over here! This way! Sarah, over here!" And finally I spot Johnny sitting with Ricky Bobby and their other friend, whom I'll call Burrito because 1) I cannot for the life of me think of more generic fake names and 2) for kicks. They're laughing, and Johnny stands up and comes over to give me a hug, saying, "I was right in front of you the whole time!" And I replied, "Sorry, I didn't see you! I can hardly see anything!" Best Friend Rose is standing nearby with Gene and her friend from another school, and lets call her Camille. I walk over and give her a hug and I compliment Gene's hair, which he flat ironed tonight ( he has curly hair). I then greet Camille, whom I've met a few times before. She's pretty nice, in general, but the first thing I notice is her Jersey Shore 'tan'. Actually, I could've seen it from 20 feet away. I don't say anything about it. Then I hear Johnny call my name from behind me, and I turn. He asks, "Are you coming to Noodles & Co.?" I repeat, "Noodles & Co.?" And BFR says, "Yeah, we're all going! You should come!" And then she leans in and whispers, "And, I have something to tell you later." I whisper back, "Okay." And Ricky Bobby smiles all huge at me and says, "Yeah, you should come with us!" And it's hard not to blurt immediately, "OKAY." So instead I smile back and turn to Rosie and Gene and Camille and ask, "And you guys are going?" "Yeah, we're taking two cars." Gene says. So Johnny and Ricky Bobby and Burrito all look like they're heading toward the sidewalk that leads to the parking lot, and Rosie and Gene and Camille stay where they are, so I don't know if we're leaving now or what, so I ask, "So are we leaving now?" And Rosie shrugs and shakes her head and says, "I don't know," like she really has no interest in going. And so I look at Johnny and ask, "Are you leaving?" And he says, "Yeah!" And turns around and walks in the direction of his dad, who happens to be there watching the game by the railing. Burrito follows him, and RB starts to, but then turns around and looks at me. "Are you coming?" He asks. I shrug and say, "I don't know." He grins at me. "Come onnn. Just come." And I can't help but grin back, and I gesture to Rosie and the gang behind me. "But I don't know if they're coming now." And then he looks at Rosie and says, "Are you still coming?" She shrugs. "I don't know. I don't think so. Go on without us." And Ricky Bobby makes this pouty lip puppy dog face that I've never seen any other guy look as adorable making as he did. And I couldn't help it, I let out this little high-pitched 'aww' and then I turn to Rosie and say, "How can you say no to that?" And Rosie shrugs again and says, "Sorry." So then Ricky Bobby says, "Fine," and looks at me and goes, "Sarah?" And I don't want to go if Rosie isn't going, because she's my security blanket of sorts, so I say helplessly, "Well..." And he says, "Come on, Sarah. Pleeeeease?" And it's like his cuteness at that moment overwhelms me and I chicken out. "Well, I don't want to come if no one else is coming." AND IT COMES OUT SO SNOOTY AND LIKE I DON'T EVEN WANT TO BE NEAR HIM THAT I WANT TO TAKE IT BACK IMMEDIATELY. And the look he gives me is so immensely let down and disappointed that I wonder just how much he wanted me to come. He smile fades and he mutters, "Whatever," and walks away, and I swear something in me dies. And I turn back to Rosie and look at her with an open-mouthed sad face like this: D:, and I say, "Wow. I feel like a jerk. A big, fat jerk." Rosie shrugs, but she looks sympathetic. Then, at that moment, Jazz walks up and says, "Hey! Aren't you going with them?" Since apparently she knew about Noodles & Co. too. "I don't know, no one else here is going." And I give Gene and Rosie a wry look. Jazz looks at them and shrugs at me and says, "You should go." I pause, considering, and then say regretfully, "I think they already left." Rosie shakes her head. "No, they're over there standing by Johnny's dad." I turn and look behind me, and believe it or not, they're still standing there, huddled in a group, and they keep looking over our way. "Oh," I say, but I make no move to go over there. So me and Jazz chat for a little while longer and then, out of nowhere, RB and Company come back over near us, Johnny chasing a kid on crutches for some reason, and RB and Burrito laughing. And then, also out of nowhere, Johnny walks up to Rosie and grabs her and says, "You're coming, Rose." And so then I grab Rose's other arm and say, "No, no. No kidnapping here." And then Johnny starts tugging her down the sidewalk, with me after her, trying to tug her back but Johnny's way stronger, so it wasn't happening. And Rosie keeps trying to yank her arm back, saying, "I'm not going!" But Johnny keeps tugging, and then finally he stops walking and says, "Just come with us, Rose!" Then after a little more of this, Johnny gives up on Rose and starts tugging on me, and after a little protest from me, disappointed Ricky Bobby's face pops back into my mind, and I sigh and say, "Okay, fine. I'll go." And in my mind I wonder what I just got myself into. Before we leave, Rosie grabs me and tells me to remember to text her all throughout it, and I say I will. Then, I leave with the guys. Mind you, this is the first time I've ever in my life been alone with three other guys. Being alone with one is one thing, but three? I've never really been friends with that many guys at the same time, so it's just never happened. So anyway, initially, we planned take take Johnny's car there, but it was in a shopping center just across the street, and there was an underpass, so we just decided to walk there. As we walked, the guys made sure I was still walking with them, and they included me, which surprised me a little, since I just assumed they were going with me because I was the only person that would come, especially with Burrito being there. (I went to school with Burrito basically my whole school life, I still remember the day I met him in Preschool, and he got a rock stuck up his nose. We've always pretty much gotten along, he's a nice guy.) But they were all really nice about it, and it help calm my nerves a little. I didn't let them see that I was nervous, but I so was. A few times while we were leaving the school football field, I kept looking back, weighing my options. Thinking that it wasn't too late to go back. Because this was so out of my comfort zone, it wasn't even funny. But eventually, I became comfortable being with them. One thing that I'll give guys credit for is that they're way easier to become friends with than girls. There's no drama, and if they like you, then they'll be friends with you. They don't wonder if they should 'be seen with' you, or crap like that (unless we're talking about douche bags here, because then I can't stand to even be around them). While we walked there, I couldn't help but notice how if I was walking behind the group (I'm a slow walker, my legs are too short.), Ricky Bobby would look back to see where I was, drop back from Burrito and Johnny, and then walk next to me. He'd drop his voice and talk to me. And there would be some times that my thoughts would rage, "WE'RE WALKING TOGETHER. ALONE." But I'd push them away and just enjoy his company. We talked about how I should have been wearing my glasses, and how he doesn't even wear sunglasses, because he says he feels stupid with them on, and how he would wear those fake black-rimmed glasses, but he would feel like a nerd. We talked about how good Keva Juice sounded, and how we wanted some instead of noodles. In the end, when we made it to the shopping center, they wanted Noodles & Co. again, and they stood outside the restaurant looking at the menu for a good five minutes deciding what they wanted. We went inside, and Johnny ordered while Burrito got a soda. I wasn't going to get anything, because I wasn't hungry, and RB got a soda too. Johnny paid, I lent him a dollar because he didn't have enough, and Burrito and Johnny walked off. I guess Ricky Bobby decided to order something after all, and since Johnny and Burrito had walked off and sat down somewhere, I waited by the register with him. He ordered, kinda paid, and then I lent him a dollar because he didn't have enough. And then, in an almost awkward moment, I guess the guy at the cash register thought we were a couple, because he asked, "Can I get you guys anything else?" and gave us this suggestive kind of smirk. Only, I guess Ricky Bobby didn't notice, because he didn't correct him, and he looked at me as if to ask if I wanted to order, and I just shook my head. So, after that, Ricky Bobby said he wanted to sit in a booth, and while I followed him, I decided to sit across from him instead of by him, just because by him would've been obvious, and I already felt kind of clingy. Johnny sat next to me, and Burrito sat next to RB, and Burrito make a joke about it being like a double date, which I laughed at, but for some reason, RB and Johnny didn't seem to think it was funny. We started talking again, and of course, being around guys, the conversation was bound to turn perverted at some point. Johnny and RB started talking about 2 girls 1 cup, and then this girl they knew that had a 'weird dildo' (God, I hope this doesn't attract the wrong kind of traffic from Google searches.), and me and Burrito just looked at each other and shook our heads. "Why am I still here?" I said lightly, in an embarrassed tone. When they started talking about it even more, in detail, Burrito says, "How do you guys even know this much about dildos?" And I laugh hard and say, "I know, right? Why aren't I recording this? This is Youtube gold!" And Burrito cracks up, and Ricky Bobby looks at me, all alarmed, and says, "Are you?!" I'm still laughing as I say, "No, but so I should be." So then, their food comes, and as RB and Johnny are eating and they try each other's food, RB makes a comment about there being beef in Johnny's, and how he'll eat around it, so I ask, "Are you a vegetarian, Ricky Bobby?" And he says he is, but he still eats fish and seafood and stuff, and I mention how Rosie used to be an aquatarian, too, but she gave up a month or two ago. Burrito makes a sarcastic comment about how vegetarianism isn't like cigarettes, you can't just 'quit'. I laughed. So then we continue to talk, and during this whole time, Ricky Bobby keeps looking at me from across the table, and I don't know why, so I generally try to avoid his gaze. The guys talk about saran-wrapping someone's car, and how funny it would be if they saranwrapped a guy they know's car, because he was at homecoming and it would be hilarious for him to come out of homecoming with his date and find his car saranwrapped. And then Ricky Bobby said he wanted to egg his ex Sissy's car, and then he said they almost saran wrapped her car last week and he felt like a creeper because he still remembered where she lived. Then, a bunch of kids from the football game walked into the restaurant, I'm talking like thirteen people here, and I say, "Well, lookie here. It's like a party train." And the guys look over and see them walk in, and Johnny says, "Ew, Tom's* here." (*name changed, obviously. Tom's this kid that goes to my old school, and I knew from the moment I met him in the first grade, that I didn't like him. That kid has always been the snootiest, meanest guy I've ever met.) So then, we all talk about how much we all hate Tom, and me and Burrito reminisce about elementary school when Burrito hung out with Tom, and Burrito said Tom was always mean to him. I told them about the time Tom punched me in the stomach in the third grade, and I told on him and he got in so much trouble. RB said he was the biggest douche-bag he's ever met. I made a comment about him probably being born that way, and they laughed. So since they're finished eating and the party train decided to show, we decide to leave. As soon as we're out of the restaurant, Johnny cackles and says, "Look what I stole!" and he pulls a butter knife from Noodles & Co. from under his shirt. Me and Burrito and Ricky Bobby freak out and bust up laughing, because none of us even saw him take it. Johnny puts up his hood, takes his butter knife and holds it in a pretend-gangster way, and he says, "Watch this." and goes into Keva Juice. For a few seconds, the rest of us just stand outside, watching him and wondering what the hell he was doing, and then we followed, and we found out that actually, he just was ordering something. Why he told us to watch, I have no clue. So Johnny orders one of those grass shot things that they have, and I have to lend him a dollar again, and I accuse them all of mooching, and I asked them how they sleep at night. Johnny and me sit on bar stools at the little bar thing they have, and I pretend I'm at a bar and I pretend to order whiskey. The girl behind the counter looks at me weird and I tell her I'm kidding. So Johnny gets his grass shot, RB tries a sip and says he likes it and it tastes like grass water. Johnny drinks the rest and makes a hilarious face, and I asked him how it feels to be a cow, but nobody got it. (Or it just wasn't funny. Joke failed.) Then we start to leave, and I wait behind for Ricky Bob as he gets a straw from their straw jar. Johnny and Burrito are walking way ahead, and as me and RB fall into step, he says, "I like to chew on straws," by way of explanation. This surprises me, and I say, "I love chewing on straws," because it's true. It's one of my oldest habits. "Really?" He sounds surprised. "Yeah," I say. "Whenever I have a drink, I chew the straw to death, and no one ever wants to share a drink with me." He laughs and says, "Me too." And then we talk about the guitar and how I used to take lessons, and then quit because my teacher sucked. And then he says I should've just gotten a better teacher, and that I shouldn't have just quit, and he recommends his guitar teacher to me. We talk a little more, and I'm suddenly very aware of how dark it is, and how cold it is, and how if Johnny and Burrito were just a bit further away, we'd almost be completely alone. The air between us is almost expectant, and now that the whole initial shock of, 'he's here again, he's moved back' has worn off, the fact that I used to have this huge crush on him, and possibly even more than that, feels like a tangible thing between us. And for a fleeting moment, I wonder about what he would do if I tried to hold his hand. But I don't. Johnny and Burrito stop and wait for us to catch up, and Johnny makes a comment about us walking slow. So as we start to walk back, RB says he doesn't think Rosie likes them, and I tell them, no, she likes them, and that she just didn't want to leave her friend, Camille, all by herself. Then I make a comment about how tangerine Camille is, and they crack up. Then Johnny and RB put up their hoods and pretend to be muggers/night joggers, and then Johnny takes out his butter knife and he and RB run off and pretend to mug the kids near us from school. Me and Burrito just hang back and watch, shaking our heads, and after we cross the street, Burrito says his ride was there and he had to go. We hadn't quite made it back to the muggers/night joggers, so he asks if I'll be okay if he left, and I told him that I would, and I'd just catch up with the dumb asses. So then he shouts goodbye to them, and says goodbye to me, and he left. So I walk back to Ricky Bobby and Johnny, and we continue walking back, and as they start to talk to another group from school near us, I'm kind of forgotten (it happens every once in a while, I can get quiet in front of big groups like that), so I just tag along. Then the other group leaves, and I'm left walking behind Johnny and RB for a few seconds, feeling like someone's kid sister who got lost. (Side note: I don't realize how much shorter I am than everybody until I'm right next to them, and the top of my head only goes up to their shoulders. When did everyone get so tall?!) Finally, Johnny stops in his tracks and goes, "Wait. Where's Sarah?" And then he turns around and sees me and says, "Aw, sorry Sarah. We left you!" And I look at him in fake accusation. "Yeah. You did." And I fold my arms. And they walk on either side of me and apologize, and Ricky Bobby says something and puts his arm around my shoulders, only I totally don't even remember what he said. I don't even think I heard him, all I could think about was his arm around my shoulders. (One bad habit of mine is that whenever I'm near a guy I'm attracted to, or talking to them, sometimes I won't even listen to what they're saying, because I just zone out and think about how they're talking to me, and how their voice sounds. I really need to stop that, it'll save me the number of created awkward moments.) So I just smile at whatever he says, hoping it makes sense, and hoping he doesn't feel me stiffen as soon as he touches me. Thankfully, Colbie walks up and says hi and hugs me, and then she hugs Johnny and they talk, and then as Johnny goes off to find someone, me and Ricky Bob walk together. Someone else comes up to me and gives me a hug, says they were happy to see me and leaves, and then I'm aware of how alone we really are, and I wonder how we seem to other people. He asks if I want to go sit on the grass, and I say sure, so we go to the hillside and sit down on the dying grass, and as I sit and he sits after me, he crosses his legs, and his legs is totally on top of mine, but he doesn't move it. He doesn't really even seem to notice, but even if he does, I wonder if he realizes what little things like that do to me. So we talk a little, and he stares at my shoes and mentions how he likes my socks (I decided to layer long socks under short ones, with legwarmers over that, over my skinny jeans. They were like legsweaters. My legs have never been so warm IN MY LIFE.) and how he doesn't wear socks, and I mention how I usually don't either, but I decided to on impulse. But between the talking, that expectant feeling between us is still there, and it feels like he wants me to say something, but I don't know what. Then Johnny comes over and sits next to RB, and two other people come over and say hi to me, and we talk a little too, and one of them asks me where Jazz is. I tell them I haven't seen her since earlier, and so they venture off to find her. Johnny goes to stand next to his dad again, and me and RB follow him. We stand near Johnny and his dad, and I shyly say hello to Johnny's dad, since I haven't really formally met him before, and it was a little awkward but hey, what can you do? RB and I stand together, and we watch Johnny go after his little sister and drag her down the hill, and Ricky Bobby says, "Aw, look. He's such a good brother." And I said, "I know. Sibling quality time, right there." And he laughed. Then, Rosie showed up, and we all chatted. And before I knew it, the game was over. I scrambled to get my phone out, because I forgot to text my dad to tell him when the game was over, so he could come get me. I briefly say out loud that I had to get a ride home from my dad, because I can't drive. Ricky Bobby tells me he can't drive yet either. So then, we go to sit down on the grass again, briefly, and Gene finds us and sits in Rosie's lap (it's complicated, but more about them in another entry!). After that, Johnny says we should all go down to the football field, and RB doesn't want to, but everyone starts walking that way anyway. Ricky Bobby says, "Fine. Screw you guys." all grumpily, and I found it so cute. I wait back to walk with him, and I say, "Aw. Be happy." And then he smirks and scrunches his nose up and says, "Screw you guys," again, but in a growly voice. I chuckle. And everyone else is ahead of us again, but we take our sweet time. I get the urge to hold his hand again. Then Ricky Bob stops and says, "I don't really want to stand up there all awkwardly," referring to the large crowd of people crowded in one area. "I don't really know a lot of people of people here anymore." I nodded in understanding, and I say, "I get what you mean." And he says, "There wasn't a lot of people I was really close with when I went here, except for Johnny. You know?" And I say, "Yeah, totally. And since I left, I feel like half the people that say they miss me don't really mean it. Like, they don't actually care." Which is way more simplified than how I really feel, but I've figured out that if your sentence is longer than 30 words, guys get bored and stop listening. But he nods in sympathy and says, "Yeah." Then, as if on cue, another girl comes up to me and gives me a huge hug and compliments my outfit, and I compliment hers, and then she leaves. Though, I didn't mind it with her, because she's a sweet girl and she's like that with everybody. In fact, after she leaves, I say, "She's one of the sweetest people I've ever met." And RB looks after her and says, "I don't even remember her name." Then I smirk and reply, "Kelsey*." And he nods, but I can tell he couldn't care less. And Johnny pops up and then leaves again (that boy should not be given sugar or caffeine in any form.), and RB says that he wants a piggy back ride. I say that I'd give him one (actually, most likely not), but I probably couldn't lift him. He said he only weighs 120-something pounds, and I told him he still weighs more than I do. He asked how much I weigh, and since I'm not weird about that, I told him, "112, or 113 or something." He seemed surprised. "That's really light," he said. "You're tiny." "I know," I sighed, because I get that a lot, always have and always will, and I'll be stuck shopping in the Juniors department and Petite stores for the rest of my life. Then Johnny returns and says that he and RB have to leave, so I give Johnny a hug and then Ricky Bobby gives me one of his terribly awkward side hug back-pat things, though I'll hand it to him, it was better than the one he gave me when I first showed up to the game. And then I guess I'd forgotten that I'd already given Johnny a hug, because I hugged him again. Ricky Bobby watches us the whole time. Then Ricky Bobby says he wants a piggy back ride, and Johnny gives him one and runs around, and since we already said our goodbyes, I wander off and try to find Gene and Rosie. I can't find them, so then I go and wander to find Jazz. At one point, I think I walked past Johnny and RB again, and I think I heard them talking about me, but I just kept walking. Interesting night, all in all. There's a lot I don't know what to make of, like why he wanted me to come to Noodles & Co. so badly, why the air between us was so thick with...something, why he wouldn't move his leg when it was on top of mine when he wouldn't even give me a proper hug, and why there'd be times when he'd look at me from across the table at Noodles, and the look he gave felt so intimate, it unsettled me. There's still so much I'm not sure of. Do I have a crush on him again? It's hard to say. I still need more time with him to decide. I know I'm definitely still attracted to him, and he's so easy to talk to, but I haven't liked someone in so long, I hardly remember what it should feel like. And since we're just getting to know each other again, it's too hard to know right now. I mean, all of the stuff that happened at the game...we were never that close before. Ever. We talked sometimes, and we were on friendly terms, but it was never at this level. WHAT DOES IT MEAN. xo Hopeless Romantic Labels: junior year, ricky bobby Fun times and sore feet.}
Thursday, September 30, 2010 | 9:28 PM | 0Comment So, Internet. Homecoming.First I'll just clear this up: I went with Best Friend Rose and Gene, kind of stag, but kind of not, since Gene and BFR went together, kind of. Like, they had corsages and all that, but they just went as friends. Anyway. So, the day of Homecoming, (the 25th, one week ago Saturday) I woke up at 9 to start getting ready, because later I would be going to Rosie's place to finish getting ready (make up, hair, and all that), and I needed to shower and shave and all that lovely necessary girl grooming. I told Rose I'd be there around 12, but instead, I ended up showing at 1, because I have time perception problems, apparently. So, I let myself in, and scared Rose half to death when I came downstairs because she didn't hear me come in, even though I screamed, "LUCY, I'M HOME" when I walked in the front door. Then, we blared the radio (I probably heard 'Dynamite' by Taio Cruz 10 times that day.) and while Rosie did her hair, I did my makeup (which included fake eyelashes, which I was paranoid about falling off the whole night and I will NEVER wear them again). In case you're wondering, I played up my eyes and eyebrows and kept the lips nude. And then while Rosie used the mirror and did her makeup, I took the curlers out of my hair (I actually wore them the whole day, you should've seen the looks I got on the way to her house!) and teased and flipped and hairsprayed (the next morning, my hair felt like cardboard! took two washes to get all that hairspray out). I also flat ironed my newly cut bangs, well, not too new, but I got them cut two days before I saw Ricky Bobby at the football game. After that, we briefly ate, and then we got our dresses and accessories and slippers and went to Rosie's older sister's house (remember Ashley? The one with the son?) to get dressed. When there, I put on my really expensive gorgeous purple strapless dress that my dad bought me at Nordstrom's as a gift for good grades and that I will be keeping for the rest of my life. (Seriously, that thing is the most expensive thing in my closet. Probably the most expensive thing I've ever owned, EVER. I tried to talk my dad out of getting it, especially because my family's had money problems my whole life and I feel guilty whenever money's spent on me, but he kept insisting. I don't care if I have to wear that thing to my own wedding, I'M KEEPING IT.) Also put on my knee-high black rose stockings and my maneater black booties and my headband with the miniature top-hat on it. Throw that all together, and you get an outfit that upstages my homecoming 2008 outfit times twenty. (It was bad two years ago. I went shopping last minute. I must've went shopping at 9 stores looking for a dress, and finally, I just settled with a polka-dot one I didn't like because I couldn't find anything else.) And BFR looked amazing! To quote her mom, she "looked like a ballerina on top of jewelry box". Her dress was gold and creme colored, strapless, short(but not harlot short, like some girls seem to like their dresses), and it was fluffy and frilly at the bottom. She had champagne colored high heels and this really cute pearl bracelet that I want to borrow. It's easy to feel plain next to Rosie, even when she's in sweats, but at last that night I felt like I held my own at least a little. So after we got dressed, we headed with Ashley to go take pictures in a nearby nature park (Ashley's a kickass photographer). While we waited for Gene after we got there, people kept looking at us from their car windows and honking at us while they drove by. Gene finally got there, in a grey pinstripe suit and a gold tie to match with Rosie. We decided to not be boring and posey like most people with their Homecoming pictures and we pretended like we were all models and did epic poses. (And whilst looking through all of them on Facebook a few days ago, I decided I need to work on my facial expressions for pictures in the mirror more often. And not blinking and talking while the picture is being taken. That too.) After all the picture taking is done, we left the park a little later than we'd originally planned, but we end up getting there on time anyway. I saw Jazz and a few of her other friends outside the Marriot, and we hug and compliment eachother on our hair and dresses and take more pictures. There was one bad moment when Rosie discovered that a freshman girl had the same dress as hers and almost started crying (oh, the drama.), but after some comforting and about 150 rounds of "Don't worry, it looks so much better on you", all was well again. Before the 'banquet' part of the night started, I greeted and hugged a few more people, including Jerry (woooo, remember him? I wrote about him once, and very briefly, in August 2008. For-ever ago. I find it strange that I didn't mention how him and BFR liked eachother Freshman year and almost dated, but didn't.). It was kind of weird, he just came up to me and gave me this huge hug, like we were best friends and I hadn't seen him in years. Which is totally not the case, because Freshman year he hardly even spoke to me. But, whatever, I guess. People at that school pretend to be someone they're not all the time, so this wasn't new. Then, everyone sat down for dinner (best chicken I've had IN MY LIFE. I've been dreaming about it since.), and I sat at Jazz's table with the guy she likes right now, and the girl he came with (more on that later), and a few other of the people she came with. It was fun, and we all threw confetti from the table at each other and took more pictures. And then the dance portion came, and let me just say, thank God I took my heels off for that, because I possibly would have been debilitated right now ( though my feet were still sore at the end of the night). Gene and Rose and I danced the entire night, even doing the group dances like the Cha Cha Slide and the Cupid Slide and the Electric Slide and the Jump On It dance. The DJ threw us leis and glow sticks, and I had the best time ever. As long as we kept away from the middle of the dance floor. It was chaperoned like mad, the teachers were practically standing guard around the perimeter of the whole dance floor, but the unwritten system of the dances at that school is that everyone forms an impenetrable wall so that the popular kids can grind and drop it like its hot in the middle unseen. I happened to catch a glimpse of Jerry animalistic-ly grinding with some chick in a red dress, front to front, and I couldn't help but lean over to Best Friend Rose and say/scream over the music, "THAT IS SO DISGUSTING." And she nodded and laughed. During the slow dances, I danced with Rosie, and then with Jazz and two of her other friends (simultaneously, and we got very dizzy), and then one all by myself, looking very single and stupid while the couples around me giggled and snuggled and held each other and I wanted to punch them out. I half-wished that Johnny had decided to go, just so he'd dance with me when I didn't have anyone to dance with for times like those (though, he claimed that freshman year ruined all homecomings for him. Please. We had fun. He just said that because he thinks he's too cool for everything now). Thankfully, though, there was only 3 slow dances the whole night. So the night, all in all, was great. I forgot how fun school dances can be, especially when you're with your friends. My feet hurt like hell afterward, and I woke up so sore you'd think I participated in a marathon the day before, and I'm tagged in all sorts of unflattering pictures on Facebook, but it was worth it. Here's to more fun nights this year like Homecoming 2010. xo Hopeless Romantic Labels: homecoming, junior year The Pros and Cons of the new Ricky Bobby.}

Well, internet. What's your verdict? xo Hopeless Romantic ps: Sorry for the wall-of-text entries lately. Whew. Labels: ricky bobby And, the moment we've all been waiting for:}
Friday, September 17, 2010 | 9:22 PM | 0Comment Woo, Internet. I'm going to be talking about this night for awhile.My God. Where to start? My brain is in shambles right now. My brain is so mixed up I only really half remember what the word 'shambles' means. Prepare yourselves, Internet. This is going to be a long one. It all started today when I was doing schoolwork and best friend Rose texted me to ask me if I was going to the football game tonight. Of course, I said yes, not wanting to miss seeing friends and people I hadn't seen in a while. So, after school, and maybe around 5 or so, I get in the shower and start getting ready and stuff. Sometime during all this, Best Friend Rose texts me and tells me that even though the game starts at 7, she'll be getting there around 7:30. I think, well okay. Plus it gave me extra time to get ready, so I wasn't complaining. It gave me extra time to moisturize and pluck and straighten and all that other crap that us girls have to do to look pretty (boys think we just look this way? HA. It takes a great deal of work!!). Unfortunately, that took way longer than I'd anticipated, and I ended up taking way a longer time to get ready than I thought. In fact, I ran out of that time, and I went over it. Waaaay over it. And when me and my dad left the house, it was a half an hour later than when we were supposed to leave (this has been getting worse and worse lately. I think I have a problem.). Which, you can imagine, made my dad cranky, and I got a lecture on how stupid it was that he was driving me to a game across town that I was just going to be there for fifteen minutes anyway, since I was so late (he had a point, and I felt really bad about it, but he was wrong about the fifteen minutes part. I made it for halftime!) So the entire lecture thing put me in a pretty bad mood. But by the time I got there and met up with Gene (check mid-2009 entries for reference) and Best Friend Rose (him and Rosie are super close now. I'm glad how it's pretty much like Freshman year again when we're all together. By the way, he's taking her to Homecoming!), I felt better again. Those two are absolutely hilarious together, so I couldn't be grumpy. As I've said before, when you get me and Gene and Rosie together, we're an unstoppable, loud talking, laughing force of loudness. The Dynamic Trio, pretty much. I love Gene, it's just like talking to a girlfriend when I'm talking to him. Anyway, so, after I've been there for a little while, Gene goes off to find someone and me and Best Friend Rose go and talk to people. After hugging and saying hi to a few people, including my friend Colbie (go check the entry on November 26, 2009 for reference), Colbie said to Rosie, "Did you see that Johnny's here with Ricky Bobby?" ...I KNOW, RIGHT??? Right then, at that moment, my heart seized. Not in the 'fluttery princess girly crush' way, more like the 'oh hell, I'm about to plummet off the edge of this cliff and fall 50 stories' way. Dread washed over me. I couldn't help it, I made this little strangled noise, like someone had literally wrapped their hands around my neck and squeezed and shook me back and forth and then abruptly let go, and I was taking my first painful inhale. Colbie and Rosie looked at me weird, and then both their eyes got all wide in realization. Colbie's mouth formed an 'o' (she knows about everything) and all she said was, "Oh." See, the thing is, I was having a hard time breathing, and time suddenly seemed to slow, like everyone around me was made of molasses. Everything hit me all at once. He was there. Ricky Bobby was there. He was walking this way. I was about to see him again, after two entire years. You'd think the thought would fill me with glee, right? HAH, YOU'RE WRONG. Because I was terrified. I honestly thought I was going to pass out. And, going to the past few football games, the thought has come to me a few times. 'I wonder if Ricky Bobby will show up to one of these.' Then the other thought that always inevitably followed it, 'He'll only be there if Johnny shows up, because him and Johnny are always together.' I mean, come on. Mutual friends and everything, it would have to cross my mind. And tonight it did, once. But then I countered it, thinking, 'Johnny hasn't showed up to the past few football games, he probably won't even be at this one. I'm not going to see Ricky Bobby tonight.' Man, irony just has it out for me. Back to the reunion: something compelled me to ignore him at first. Act like I hadn't been waiting for this moment for over two years. Johnny came right up to me first and gave me this huge bear hug, which was weird at first, because I thought it'd be all weird since Jazz and him aren't friends anymore. But I think he's maybe starting to realize that he needs to make best of the friends he has right now. It was also weird because he was so stiff and formal the last time he saw me. He hasn't been like this toward me since...last year this time, I'm thinking. But it sort of felt like it was back to old times again. It was nice. I'd like to think that he's going back to old Johnny again, but I won't count on it, just so I won't get my hopes up or anything. Johnny stole my hat and put it on his head and made me chase him for a few minutes (like I said, just like old times), and then he gave it back to me and we made our way back to where Rosie and Ricky Bobby and Colbie were standing, talking to two other guys. Somehow the topic of AIDS came up between Johnny and I (he's strange.) and, I swear, not even a minute after me and Johnny get back to the group, I hear from the other group, "somethingsomethingsomething Sarah blahblah." I hear in a voice very similar to the voice I remember, only deeper, "She is?" And then, "Yeah, she's right there." I sense more than see (since I'm still taking to Johnny) Ricky Bobby turn to look behind him, and then out of my peripheral vision, I see him do a double take. Excuse me while I go do my victory dance. It's probably just because I've changed so much physically and mentally over the past two years, but hell yeah none the less. And then, he doesn't even hesitate one second before he comes over. He comes right over to me to hug me, and can I just say that I don't understand what happened to his hugs, because they used to be so amazing and now they're poop. It was one of those, 'I don't really wanna touch you, so I'm going to hold my arms out in an awkward diagonal position and when you come in to hug me, I'm just gonna pat you on the back' hugs. I was so let down by it. Like, you haven't seen me in two years. Can't you muster up a hug better than that?! (Although a little later I found out that he hugged Rosie the same exact way. So it wasn't just me, his hugs just suck now.) Anyway. Before he hugs me, he gives me his huge Ricky Bobby-y smile and says, "Hey, Sarah. How are you?" in this warm, I'm-glad-to-see-you voice. It throws me off for a second or two and I lose my cool for a moment (including not answering his question and shooting out a too-rushed 'HOW ARE YOU' as soon as we're done hugging), but then I gain it back and smile in a not-too-eager casual way, the way that Rosie happened to give me pointers on a few months back. He says the usual, cordial, "Good, how are you?" And I answer this time (Thank God), "I'm pretty decent." And I hate how cordial everything is, so I say, "So, how was Pennsylvania?" And in my mind, I don't miss the irony in how I'm asking him about it when the word 'Pennsylvania' has changed in meaning for me forever. He immediately loosens up and his eyes brighten and he looks at me and smiles all happily and says, "I loved it." "Yeah?" I say, and I'm surprised at how bitter I don't feel about him saying he loved Pennsylvania. It makes me happy. "Yeah. It's amazing. I met the coolest people there. It was just so cool." I already knew the answer to this question, but I asked anyway: "Do you miss it?" "Oh," he shook his head like he couldn't believe how much he missed it. "my God. Yes. You have no idea." Something about Ricky Bobby that I'd forgotten was that when he looks at you, his eyes cut into you. His gaze is just so intent and unwavering, and if that's something you're easily intimidated by, like me, it's hard to handle sometimes. But I tried my darndest to not look away and look at him intently too, to not look nervous and intimidated by him anymore. I've changed the past two years, and I wanted him to see it. I looked at him in real sympathy and clucked my tongue. "Aw. I bet." We talked for a while, and he talked about the music scene in Pennsylvania (he's all into bluegrass and obscure, unheard of bands now. All indieboy and everything.), and I asked him about his band back in Penn. He talked about how his band was able to get a new lead singer and how they had just recently opened for this awesome band (I forgot which. Something Venom. I think.) in a huge stadium, and that they were probably getting a recording contract soon (though I have a feeling he was embellishing it to impress me a little). It was astounding to me how quickly I'd loosened up around him, and how the feeling that I was about to pass out went away. I forgot how much he talked, and he talks a lot. Actually he was probably providing most of the conversation, not that I minded. It was easier than I'd anticipated. I also told him how I didn't go to Best Friend Rose's school anymore, and he seemed genuinely interested to see why. When I told him it was because of money problems, he was surprisingly understanding about it, saying how online school 'sounded cool' and saying that it was good that I still got to go to football games and dances and such. It was interesting to me that he actually cared. Finally, Rosie came and stood next to me and joined in our conversation (though, she told me later tonight on the phone, she made sure to stay off to the side and let us talk by ourselves a little while), and we started talking about other stuff. At one point, Ricky Bobby kept talking about drugs (he's apparently a druggie now. Not really surprising, since I'd found out that he's used them before, but I didn't realize how much until tonight. I swear, he kept talking about it for like, twenty minutes.) and girls that used to go to our school that he thinks are hot, including Jessica Simpson (see past entries from 2009), who moved to Montana recently, and the girl he dated in the 8th grade that I talked about in the first entry (though he admitted that she's a total ho-bag now and he doesn't go for that). Eventually Johnny came back over to our group from wherever he went, and then RB suggested that we go sit down in the grass. So we all go to sit, and while we're sitting down, Ricky Bobby mumbles something, something like, "Sarah mumblemumble me mumblemumble eighth grade mumblemumble." And obviously, I didn't hear him, so I say to him over Johnny and Rosie talking, "What?" And all I got this time was, "Sarah wan-mumblemumble date me mumblemumble eighth grade mumblemumble." BUT it sounded a little like, "Sarah wanted to date me in the eighth grade." Johnny snickers and RB has this huge smirk on his face, so I put everything together and decide maybe he really did say the latter. I give him a 'oh-no-you-did-not-just-say-that-out-loud' open-mouthed squinty look and hope that it at least makes sense with what he really said, if he said something else, that is. But he smiled wider and laughed, so I'm starting to think that really was what he said, and that it wasn't my imagination. But Rosie brings something up immediately after that, and so there wasn't time to worry about what to say. Meanwhile, when we all continued to talk, Johnny came to sit between me and Best Friend Rose, and I couldn't help but notice how he sat at an angle that I would have to lean around him to talk to Rosie and RB. Coincidence? Maybe. A few times when me and Johnny were talking about something(one thing in particular was about Fiddy getting AIDS and getting a girl pregnant, but THAT'S FOR A WHOLE 'NOTHER ENTRY.), Ricky Bobby would pipe into our conversation, talking straight to me. One time when he did it, and me and Ricky Bobby were the only ones talking (and I remember in particular that we were looking very intently at each other and grinning and everything) Johnny looked between us, and half his mouth quirked up while he shook his head. Not sure what that means, but I pretended like I didn't notice. Eventually, RB and Johnny had to leave and they got up from the grass. Me and Rosie stayed sitting, and Johnny gave an awkward bending over-sitting down hug to Rosie, and then an even more awkward one to me (since compared to Rosie, I'm a dwarf. Actually, compared to anyone, I'm a dwarf.). Then RB gave an even more awkward one-armed sitting/bending down hug (why, Ricky Bobby? Why?!) to both of us, and the boys left. Me and Best Friend Rose sat there for a minute or two, her pretty much watching me sit dazed and wondering what the hell just happened, and then we decided to go find Gene. Everything after that is pretty much a blur, all I remember was the game ending, saying goodbye to Gene, the ride home, and then calling Best Friend Rose and rushing to get into my pj's so I could blog about all this. I honestly don't know what to think right now. There's so much to absorb. But as for right now, I need to sleep on it. This week has been long. I need a night or two to think about all of this. Tuesday, August 31, 2010 | 9:38 AM | 0Comment Well, Internet, my summer has come to an end.Actually, it came to an end on the 17th. I started school then, and so far, it's not so bad. I like my classes all right, except for Algebra 2, maybe. But I'm don't decent in that class, so, I'm not upset over it. I'm also taking Chemistry, American Government, English (speaking of which, I'm supposed to be doing my Autobiographical narrative right now...shh...), Music Appreciation and Psychology. I love psychology. I don't know why, but it's just so COOL. I also have a new two month old baby cousin that I just love so much. Off subject, I know, but he's the cutest thing I've ever seen in my entire life. Anyway, for this school year, I fixed up my school room, and it has a butterfly chair and a radio and knick knacks and framed picture of Holly Golightly. I actually like being in there now. It's so cute! My friends have started school too, and they seem to like this school year so far. The school has changed a lot since I went there. Since the school's a private school (one that's been open since the seventies, by the way), they're having a bit of a money problem, considering the recession and all. And 'money problem' is putting it VERY lightly. Originally, they had two separate campuses for the Elementary school and the middle & high school, but they had to SELL the entire Elementary school campus for money. Not an entirely smart idea in my opinion, I think they would've made more money by renting out the campus and getting a monthly rent rather than just a lump sum, but whatever. They must've been desperate. Resulting, the elementary school moved into the same building as the Middle schoolers, which sucks for both parties. I was terrified by Middle schoolers when I was in Elementary, and having Kindergartners running around the hallways and around your legs and 2nd graders standing in your way when you're in a rush to your locker doesn't sound so welcoming. I'm just glad this all happened after I graduated Junior High. And apparently, they've cut back on spending also, because they've filled all their soda vending machines with plain water, sold half of the school's trash cans, sold a few printers to cut back on ink prices, and have talked about getting rid of the snack vending machines as well. Ouch. And since so many things there have gone downhill, tons of people transferred school this year. Like, TONS. I don't blame them. Best Friend Rose said that all the hot people are gone, so things are boring now. Sounds it. So, I'm pretty much thankful for my school experience now. Well, I have been, but even more so now. No pressure, no drama, just school. So I can actually FOCUS on my grades. It's a relief. And Jazz is pretty much okay with school right now, too, except for one thing. She's decided to distance herself from Johnny and everyone else in that group. Johnny's changed a lot in two years. I feel like I don't even know him anymore. Two years ago now, we were so close. SO close. He had drug problems in the past, and he could be a jerk sometimes, but he was a good friend. If I needed to talk about something seriously, he would listen. I felt like he cared about my life and what was happening. But something happened. I don't know what, but something happened. He's tried every drug I can probably think of, he's a total douche bag (reference point: dumping Jazz after ONE WEEK of going out), he's addicted to sex and does anything with a pulse and boobs, he's two faced and manipulative, and he doesn't give a crap about anybody. I went to the mall with Johnny and Jazz a few weeks ago, and Johnny acted so strangely at first. It was like we weren't even friends. A little later, he got a little better, but I remember one specific incident when I said something dumb in a joking manner, instead of teasing me and laughing like he would've normally done, he literally acted like I was mentally impaired. It hurt my feelings, and it came out of nowhere, so I was shocked. He never would've done that before. And, on the anniversary of Jazz's mother's death, Jazz was feeling, understandably, depressed. She was hanging out with Johnny that day, and when he asked her why she was 'acting so mopey', and she told him, he told her to 'get over it'. When I heard that, I was livid. Jazz only just told me about this, and it happened in May. How could someone say that? How could he say that and call himself her friend? You DO NOT say that to ANYBODY who's lost someone, especially in the manner Jazz lost her mother. You just DON'T. And if he weren't such a condescending, self-centered asshole, he'd be able to grasp something as simple as that. So I'm proud of Jazz for distancing herself from him. He doesn't deserve Jazz as a friend. Hell, he doesn't deserve any friends, and how he has any right now blows my mind. And since we're on the subject of Johnny, let's talk about Ricky Bobby, too. Johnny and Ricky Bobby hang out all the time. In fact, once RB moved back here, hanging out between them was almost an everyday thing. I found out that the whole 'I still like Ricky Bobby' thing for me isn't true. What is true is that I'm still attracted to him, and I possibly always will be. It's just one of those attraction things that never go away, and I'm okay with that. But I don't like him like him. Which is a relief, because from what I hear, he's pretty much an asshole too (a sexy asshole). And he's doing that whole 'I hate it here' thing that he did when he first moved here in the 8th grade. Which is whatever. He's a bipolar douchebag, and always has been. I just forgot that while he was in Pennsylvania. So, I just don't really give (much of a) crap about him these (recent) days. Later today, I'm getting my reserved copy of the first book of Cassandra Clare's prequel series to The Mortal Instruments series, The Infernal Devices, called Clockwork Angel. It just came out last night at midnight. I think that officially qualifies me to be a book nerd, but I don't care and OH MY GOD I'M SO EXCITED. So right now, things are pretty good. My summer was great too. I now have a life again, which is a huge contrast from the last school year. I'm happy now. I'm taking it one day at a time, and I'm good with it. Here's to a great Junior year! ;) xo Hopeless Romantic Labels: books, junior year, school, summer Secret #1.}
Tuesday, August 3, 2010 | 9:38 PM | 0Comment Every once in a blue moon, I feel sad about never dating anybody. I feel hopeless.I feel the hopelessness because I've never felt a kiss, never stayed up late texting someone until I fell asleep because we couldn't stop talking...I've never even known what it's like to love someone--or at least, like someone a lot--and have them like me back. Like, truly like me back. For who I am. Sometimes it actually feels like it will always be this way for me. And it's a horrible hopelessness. It's the deep, ripping, burning feeling of heartbreak, the kind that makes you feel hollow and bitterly cold. And when that happens, I feel absolutely certain that nobody really truly gets what it feels like. But I guess everyone feels that at some point, right? xo Hopeless Romantic I have to admit, I kept it up for a good while.}
| 12:43 AM | 0Comment Hey, Internet.Last night, I received this text message from Best Friend Rose at about 11:20. "So ricky bobby just called me". At the time, I was reading a book, and it opening it and reading it, I nearly had a heart attack. You know, the ones I always seem to have. I try to play it cool, and I say, "Ricky Bobby who? Ricky Bobby 'Jones'?" Ricky Bobby's actual name is one of the most popular and overused boys' names in my generation. Literally, you could probably guess it within five minutes. As a result, we personally know about 6 or 7 "Ricky Bobbys", and we usually need to differentiate. Of course, this one isn't the case, because Best Friend Rose knows that there's only one Ricky Bobby to me that matters. Which is why she replied with, "Lol. No. Ricky Bobby (insert last name here), or however you spell his last name." And I knew she could see past my ruse. At this point, my stomach was churning and working itself into a knot. I sat up in bed and attempted to cool myself down. I replied, "Haha ohhhh gotcha. I'm pretty surprised I didn't guess that first. So how'd that go? That's so random. Lmao" The whole deal with this conversation was that it was frustrating, because Best Friend Rose is on vacation in Southern Texas, and apparently either my phone's service or her phone's service was being faulty, and I had to wait for her response, and upon realizing that she probably hadn't even gotten the message, I had to send it again. Usually by the third time, it got through. She said, "i know!! Lol. Ha I know well I didn't answer and he left a message and was with Johnny. i called them back but they're idiots. lol" Even more curious--well, okay, anxious now--I replied with, "Hahah of course. They would do that! Lmfao idiots. So no meaningful conversation then, huh?" I think my sarcasm was lost within text, and it wasn't as effective. Oh well. She said, "Lmao nope. Called me a bitch twice in the message tho lolol. Not serious, I assume." As I read that, my eyebrows rose. I pictured Ricky Bobby and Johnny, most likely high somewhere, shouting obscenities at my best friend through Ricky Bobby's cell phone on speakerphone and then laughing hysterically at it. I don't know why it faintly bothered me, I mean, I've never missed an episode of Family Guy, for pity's sake. You'd think I'd be completely desensitized to things like this by now. I still can't put my finger on why it bothered me. I replied coolly, "Haha oh my god. Just lovely." And then I told her to go look at my new pictures on my Facebook. There was no reply, even after the third time I sent it, so I assumed she was asleep. Lately, I've gotten this weird feeling. You know that paranoid feeling you get when there are some people near you, whispering, and you know they're talking about you. but at the same time they would never come right out and say it? Well. That's what I've been feeling lately. Except not with groups of people, and not in a public place. Instead, it's Ricky Bobby, and on his Facebook. I don't know if you've ever been convicted of this, Internet, but I know I have: I have this habit of making obscure, indirect status updates when I want to let something out about a situation, or my feelings about a certain situation. Yep, I'm one of those people. One of those people who take a certain line from a song, put it as their status, and hope the person it's about reads behind your subtlety and takes the hint. Well, Ricky Bobby makes those all the time. And I mean all the time. And I know what you're thinking: Sarah, you've overreacting again. He's most likely just putting random lyrics from random songs on his Facebook, and even if they are directed at somebody, it's most likely not you. I don't blame you at all, that's what I'm almost positive of too. But I have this feeling. My instincts are telling me otherwise. Sometimes instincts can be wrong. But sometime they aren't. On Facebook, when someone puts lyrics in their status updates, I get curious and Google the lyrics, just to see what their musical tastes are. RB is no different. A few days ago, I put used a quote in my status from the song "Breakthrough" by Colbie Caillat. A good summary of the lyrics comes from the first verse, chorus, and part of the second verse: Why is it so hard? It was so long ago. I don't know where to start, or what to say to you. I've been all alone, needing you by my side. But its not too late. Maybe we just needed time. Can we try to let it go? If we don't, then we'll never know. I try to break through, but you know that its up to you. We say that time is meant to heal, but it still hurts inside. I wish that none of this was real, cause we're so far behind. Which, I'm sure you notice, I can relate to. Anyway, I posted the, 'Can we try to let it go? If we don't then we'll never know' part. Then, just a little later that day, Ricky Bobby posted, 'I'd rather be blind than to see you walk away from me', which is from, I assumed, the Rod Stewart version of 'I'd Rather Go Blind', since I don't think he's the Beyonce type. Parts of the lyrics include: I would rather, I would rather go blind girl, than to see you walk away from me child. So you see, I love you so much, I don't want to see you leave me baby. Which is nothing, right? But wait! Here's the weird part! I experimentally posted the next part of the 'Breakthrough' lyrics as my status, "I try to break through, but you know that it's up to you." And then, I swear, not even an hour later, Ricky Bobby posted, 'Those happy hours, That we once knew though long ago, still make me blue', which is from the song, 'I Can't Stop Loving You' by Van Morrison. I need to post all the lyrics for this one. I can't stop loving you, since I made up my mind to live in memories of a lonesome time. I can't stop wanting you, it's useless to say. So I just live my life in dreams of yesterday. Those happy hours, oh, those happy hours that we once knew, Oh, that we once knew So long ago, so long ago, baby, still make me blue. Yeah, still make me blue. They say the time, they say that time, heals a broken heart, heals a broken heart. But time has stood still, but time has stood still, since we've been apart. Oh, since we've been apart. I can't stop loving you, since I made up my mind. Living in, live, live, live, live, live, live in memories of a lone, lonesome time. So, you get the basic point. The thing that most caught my attention, other than the fact that Ricky Bobby could possibly listen to such romantic songs, was the 'time heals a broken heart' part and the needing you parts. That was...alarming. Either it was a strange, oddly timed and specific coincidence, or it was done purposely. The songs that we used were almost identical in meaning. It was...odd, to say the least. But since then, nothing else like that had happened. Until last night, when he called Best Friend Rose. And the thing is, I don't think this is too terribly random, either. For the past few months, I may have or may have not been putting lyrics from songs in my statuses directed at him, and I may or may have not 'liked' certain pages that could pertain to him. Maybe. And maybe he noticed. RB and Best Friend Rose hadn't talked since the day he moved away. And he decided to call her, randomly and out of the blue. Rose said it was pretty much the last thing she expected. Coincedence? Maybe. Maybe not. All I know is, if this is his stupid, immature, twisted way of somehow trying to reach out to me, he's going to have to do better than that. If he wants to talk to me, he should grow some cajones and talk to me, and not send all these obscure, weird signs, if that's even what they are. Oh, and just in case you haven't noticed by now...I gave up on lying to myself and to all of you guys. I'm sorry. I still like him. It's too much work trying to pretend like I don't. It wasn't helping anybody. And it feels better now that I can actually admit it. But whatever I do, I'm not going to act on it. I'm not the same helpless, naive girl I was two years ago. I'm not going to chase him anymore. If he's worth anything, and if he's really trying to reach out to me, he can do it up front like a man. And if he doesn't, then I'm not going to bother. I have more dignity, more strength than I did before. I know who I am. I won't let him degrade me again. xo Hopeless Romantic Labels: ricky bobby, summer |
